yea, but we are comparing the motor to is competition.

when the 03 G came out, its figures set the benchmark...now the numbers are just not as exciting since it only matches the lexus...and not exceeds it by 50 hp like last time!!!!

Im waiting to pick up a clean 2-3 year old M45 sport. The more I look at the '07 G, I dont like the look. It HAS NOT grown on me. I expected that it would, but no.

I know that, I'm just saying this is quite an engine for being a 3.5 V6, the first time I drove a G, it surprised me!

I have never truly judged a car until I have seen it in person, you are right!

Absolutely hilarious to see some people get sad/whine about 306 horses not being enough. We all know that's how the Europeans (BMW in particular) established the benchmark in sports sedans.....

The original G35 was among the highest HP in its class, that's what we were hoping for again with the 2007 revision, we are all diasppointed because 306 HP leaves room for a competitor to put out a more powerful V6 engine closer to 320 HP.

is it that complicated? the differences between cars in the G's class are pretty subtle so it is best to have a slight edge over the competition wherever possible and the original G35 was evidence of that philsophy, where as the new G seems to be falling short on a few of the points that the original G (OG if you will ) won out on.

Good point, however remaining competitive isn't always about HP. I'm sure Infiniti could have put 340 HP if they wanted, but at what price? Will it still be an affordable sedan with that much power compared to the others in its class? How much is the IS 350 again? $ forty something K? Getting my point? Maybe their technique is to leave room for improvements, marketing strategy. A little shy of the competition will force the competition to bump theirs up to stay ahead, price wise too. That leave the G affordable while sacrificing very little in performance if speed is all you care about. Remember sometimes more power is accompanied by more weight which doesn't always translate to faster car, but you already know that. Hint 05 G35 298 versus 04 with 260

The 07 280 engine went down five so you could guess then new G engine at 306 would be around 311 with the old SAE.

wouldn't too much horsepower on the G hurt the M45's upgraded supremacy?
