I put this in the lighting sections and got a response, I'm hoping i can get more suggestions I recently got an aftermarket h.i.d. kit that comes with h1 bulbs. I have an 03 g35 sedan with the reflector housing. I wanted to retrofit a projector inthere. I plan on using an aftermarket projector and was wondering which projector would fit my h1 bulbs? any suggestions are welcomed thanks!

 

Ive heard e46 and s2000 projectors work nicely.

I'm confused. H1 bulbs are not HID bulbs.

 

Seeing how he said he bought a kit, I assume it came with a HID bulb with a retrofitted base. As to the projector question, there's isn't any OEM HID projectors I know of that uses H1, matter of fact I'm pretty sure there isn't. But there is a way to get your hands on some H1 projectors, most aftermarket "projector headlights" use a H1 bulb. These projectors aren't really made for HIDs and are far from the same quality as OEM projectors.

 

when I had a 2000 Civic SI, I bought the dual halo projector lights for my it. The aftermarket projector used H1 but on the light, it specifically said "Do not install HID bulbs in this unit." As far as quality, no where up to par as well. However, I do know that the projector foglight on 04+ maximas use h1 bulbs in their projectors. As far as lighting wise, it's not the same as the xenon low beam using D2S. So my advise, get rid of the h1 bulb and do it right.

 

Like everybody said, H1 bulbs are not HID. Get your money back!

 

Yup, you bought crap. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT install that on your G.

I guess i have to return it or soemthing but the guy said that the h1 bulbs for the aftermarket h.i.d. kit fit my 03 housing. since my reflector housing wasn't made for the oem h.i.d.'s i'd have to use the h1 bulbs for the kit. can anyone suggest a good aftermarket h.i.d. kit that i can use with oem projectors? thanks (something at a reasonable price 200-300.00).

if i were to get the oem then i would have to get a whole new housing and i can't afford that at the moment. but thanks i guess i need more research

 

It sounds like you need to do a lot more research... you stated that you wanted to do a projector retrofit... So why would you need a new housing to use oem hid components if you are doing an hid projector retrofit? You only need new harness which doesn't cost much. You can do a ghetto projector retrofit with non-xenon (hid) projectors, but then you might as well not bother doing anything at all since you will still have glare like you already have with the hid bulbs in the non-hid reflectors, maybe more.

 

if i put oem h.i.d. bulbs in the reflector housing then it would of been a problem. but i have an aftermarket h1 bulb which is fine with the reflector housing.
