Clutch pedal too high!

I have been searching far and wide for a 2003 G35 with a manual transmission. I finally found one just 2 hours away and went to test drive it with my wife. We both liked it a lot but there is one big problem. The clutch pedal is too high. With her heal on the floor, her foot does not hit the pedal in a way that it is usable. She'd have to drive around with a eleveted leg to shift gears.

Does anyone know a fix for this issue. It is a bit disappointing to think that if you have a size 7 or so women foot you cannot comfortably drive this car.

Thanks,
Ben

No, original clutch and clutch pedal. Car has 21,500 miles on it.

You can shorten the travel in the clutch pedal by breaking a nut loose and then removing the cotter pin from the rod that sits in the U fork that hangs the pedal itself and rotating the fork so it comes down further thus pushing the natural sitting position of the clutch lower. I lowered my to be about even with the brake. Not low enough to keep my heel on the floor but shorter nonetheless. You could lower it more, but you'd need to test to make sure that it's fully engaged at the top and fully disengaged at the bottom still so you don't wear out your clutch very fast.

You can do a search here for detailed instructions on how to adjust this. It only takes about 10 minutes. Only hard part is getting that nut loose the first time, and you're in an akward position, almost under the dash, to do this.

All cars have different cluth pedals man you just got to adjust. Her foot will learn to use the pedal correctly it is just not currently in the range of motion of the muscles and tendents that have been trained on your other clutches.

I promise if you had learned to drive stick on this car the clutch would feel perfect and the clutch you know now as normal would feel weird.

It's just the way it is, remember how hard it was to use the clutch the first time you drove no matter what it was on? You have to train your foot to do the controlled press and release slowly at first the muscles and tendants aren't developed enough to have the control to release slowly but you develop them

just my 2 cents

I don't think it's a learning *issue*. There way too much travel in clutch when the come from the factory. That would be like saying I'll get used to sitting in a chair that's too big for me. Yeah, I guess I would, but it's stupid when you can just get a chair that fits better. Haven't you driven sticks when you can easily clutch in and out while keeping your heel on the ground? I'd call that preferred over a clutch that by default sticks up an inch higher then the brake pedal and disengages the clutch about 3 inches from the floor.

I just picked up a '06 6MT this week and noticed the same thing. I wear a size 11 and I still have to take my foot off the floor. Planning on adjusting it tomorrow night.

Just adjust it to where you like it.
