tranny flush?

The 05 just hit 30k miles, went to the dealer to get an oil change and asked them to do a tranny flush as well. The service manager advised against it, saying the self contained system doesn't need to be flushed unless the car has been used for towing? Is it too early to get a flush at 30k?

No flush just drain and replace fluid. Had this done at my local Infiniti dealer recently.

My Infiniti dealership didn't even have the equipment for the flush. Maybe yours didn't either

This is pretty bad. Hard to imagine a service department without a transmission fluid exchange system. You're only going to get about 3 qts. or 30% of the volume out of a drain/fill. A full fluid exchange every 30K miles is recommended. Find a dealer that can do it right.

The dealer sorta did the right thing. Instead of just saying you didn't need a flush, they should have agreed to inspect the fluid and then determine whether it was necessary or not.

I think the reason why the dealer doesn't necessarily have a flush "system" perse is because the procedure in the manual doesn't describe using one. You just remove one of the lines, start the car and add while it pumps out.

Has any one drained and filled the tranny fluid? I got almost 30K. Would like to do it myself. Please share your experience. Thanks.

The service schedule states that the flush is optional. The drain and fill is listed in the PM schedule.
