Don't go crazy on the mods, and you should be fine. Forgot to mention before mine is a 15K/yr lease. I have added an aftermarket Amp, bypassed the bose using a harness. Tinted the windows 32% (nc legal limit), an plan on addind a dvd player to the upper glove box, and a LCD to the cubby on top of the center console.

Pirate, aside from the exhaust and springs, the juice/charger/and intake should be completely reversible back to stock right?

Monthly payment is irrelevant in these lease/buy comparisons. Ive leased cars for less than depreciation cost -- which is a factor (depreciation) that affects leases and buys evenly. If you can drive a car for less than depreciation cost, there is no incentive to own unless you are convinced you will keep the car for 15yrs and drive it until the wheels fall off.

You have to compare buys and leases one on one, deal for deal, not on generics, because there is no such thing as a generic buy or lease. Each is different.

Whether you buy or lease, you arent gonna be making payments beyond 36-39 months to avoid getting upside down. Thats about the only constant I see. A rough estimate is leasing cuts the monthly payment in half compared to buying. Quite honestly the only difference between leasing and buying is leasing allows you time to decide whether the car is worth keeping or not. Why not let the market evaluate things for you first. You can always buy the car for cash at lease end for the residual anyway. Make someone else roll the dice on making a profit on speculating depreciation levels. Choice is a beautiful thing at times.

By the way, if your:

Selling price: $35613.00
Residual is 67%: $23860.00
Cap reduction: 0
Money Factor: .00052
Lease term: 24mths

Your payment would be about: $520.63/mth

Money factor of 0.00052 is 1.25% not 1.5%. 1.5% money is a 0.00063. not that this will change things a whole lot. Your payment would be $527.18/mth

You said your payment was quoted at $525/mth. I dont see a problem if the numbers you gave are indeed accurate.

12 months..i got it while they were doing hte 12 month lease special..and i think they still are

Just wanted to let everyone know how this ended up for me...

Turns out that the dealership I was working with was top notch. I went and spoke to them on Monday, explained my position, and they tore up the contract that I signed on Saturday - and wrote up a new one with the price I thought I was getting.

It was a pleasant surprise to have the dealership value me as a customer and do the right thing!

Thanks for all of the feedback!
