Getting out of the car is a bit better because you're not dropping yourself onto the seat. Just put your feet out and lift yourself up with your feet, not your thighs.
I know, it's like acrobats, but hey, it keeps the leather looking good so it'd be worth it!

Leather is going to appear to have "cracks" in it, it's not a crack, more like a crease, and it's normal for that to happen. My '05 still looks great after little more than a year and 11k miles. My '04 graphite interior still looked great after almost 2 years. As far as a loaner, you can't judge by those, they aren't cared for at all, probably never had the seats cleaned, and people abuse a loaner a lot ot times as well.

I believe the bigger the butt, the better for the seats since your weight is distributed out onto a larger surface, thus less stress on the leather per square inch.
