Reliabiltiy of your G35

Im just curious as to what you think the reliability will be like for the G35. Ive got an 03 and the warranty will expire next year so Im kind of curious. It seems to me that being an Infiniti it should be virtually problem free for a while. So far Ive had no problems...knock on wood.

I'm expecting mine to last well over 100,000 miles. As long as you do the scheduled 30,60,90 mileage service intervals and keep on top of your oil changes you shouldnt have any problems with the car. I've got an 05 with
20k miles and i drive it hard everyday with no problems (knock on wood) and i'll continue to drive this way until the motor falls out the bottom of the car.

I just viewed jd power ratings...Im shocked at their ratings:

http://www.jdpower.com/autos/brand-ratings/

Infiniti has been beat out by Hyundai, Honda, Toyota and is about in the league with Chrysler, Ford, Buick and Lincoln.

Is it me or does someone have their hat on backwards.

Edit: I read further into it and found out that J.D. Power gets their information from their subscribers/consumers not actual certified experts.

You're looking at the overall rating, look at the mechanical quality in manufacturing and design... thats all that matters for reliability. Only BMW, Buick and Lexus are on par with infiniti in the mechanical quality manufacturing rating.

Infiniti and Nissan are generally not as reliable as Toyota and Lexus. It's a fact when you average out all the statistics. I mean, c'mon, Toyota and Lexus dedicate their whole business philosophy on quality (maybe that's why they forgot about excitement most of the times?). BUT, know that Infiniti and Nissan are up there meaning they are much better than the other makers (see Consumer Reports, JD Power, etc.). Also, know that the quality ratings of Infiniti and Nissan have been dragged down a bit by their trucks (new to the market). All things consider, you have to realize there are more to consider in a car purchase than just reliability. You just have to figure out how high do you place reliability in your decision over style, performance, price, prestige etc. etc. That's how I decided on a G35 rather than a IS350. I really want to get into an IS for my own reasons, but all things considered, the G is a better choice for me. GL!

I was like ... huh? How did Dodge get up there? *LOL* Anyway, also think about how many cars the company makes and what type of cars. Also pay attention to individual category winners. Toyota for example usually wins 90% of the JD Power individual quality by car classes and always win the dependability category but they're not ranked #1 - just means it's being dragged down by one or two models. As for Infiniti, I think the QX56 has something to do with it!

Infiniti did well on that list, but some of the others are real eye-openers....

Volks, BMW, M/B, and Mazda to name a few.....

I think the brake issue with the 03-04's hurt it as did the fuel hose recall and 6MT synchro issue.

I love my car regardless!!!

And the QX56 (Armada) reliability has put a big black eye on the entire brand.

Even Toyota has had recall issues in recent years.

I probably would have like the GS300, but it was too expensive, unless I had gone with a high mileage one.

The only "reliability" issues I've had is the tire monitor alarm lighting up this year when hot and driving some distance. Dealer couldn't reproduce issue in shop. Also, the outside temperature gauge occasionally reads off up to 15 degrees, requiring a reset described here. When I asked about it, the tech just followed the instructions, saw that it was then within a small amount of the temp, and didn't think there was a problem

The third thing, which may be my imagination, is a light klunk I hear when driving at slow speeds. Is it my seat? suspension? Haven't brought it up yet.

Infiniti's realible is is very good, top 4 by brand. Consumer reports grade almost all models of infinit much better than average. The qx56 has sucked though. I bought this car for reliability and performance.
