Wet front passenger footwell and mat?!?!?!

I noticed today that after a heavy rainstorm, the mat and the carpet under it for the front passenger seat are soaking wet!!! Where can the water be coming from?

I previously ran a 1/0 power cable through the upper part of the firewall on the passenger side, but I did that about a year ago and this is the first time I have neoticed this. I also pured water down the drip rails (on the roof) to see if that was it, but I didn't see any water dripping in.

I pulled the interior panels and the glovebox to see where it is coming from. I see water droplets on several wires, not next to each other either!

Does anyone have an idea or have heard of this problem before?

Thanks,

Andrew

behind & above the battery where the oem wire loom comes down.
You can see it after you take the black curved trim piece off.
When I installed my supercharger a few years back we lifted it off the white plastic ring & didn't put it back on quite right. Fix it quickly because there's alot of important electrical stuff right there. ie. ecu

Yeah, either that or your sunroof drains are blocked. Use some compressed air on those to try to get any crap out. The water can run down the A-pillar into the footwell area.

This is what I was thinking as he was talking about symptoms of wet interior as some people who installed the 10 wire grounding kit.

If I were you, I would pop the hood/remove the battery cover assembly entirely>remove the plastic part that sits against the battery assembly and winshield>check the grommet that feeds through the firewall and the air duct that sits behind the battery and see where it is wet.

Finally someone else with the same problem!! Water shows up there everytime I wash my car or rains really hard. Luckily I have the rubber floor mats so its helped a bit not to soak the passenger side flooring. I've taken it to Infiniti and of course they said they couldn't reproduce the problem so nothing was done. I also have a grounding kit. Anyone know where it needs to be patched up or resealed?

Check out this thread and look for my pictures that I took:

https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...grounding+gear

If you take a look at the picture of the grounding gear going through the grommet down the firewall, this has to be sealed tightly so that water doesn't go in there. I think this is a step that a lot of people overlooked during install. When it rains, water is funneled down the windshield RIGHT OVER this grommet. So therefore, if you did not seal it up you will get leakage into the cabin. What I did was seal it with electrical tape going over the grommet and covering the entire hole that the grounding gear feeds through. Look at the pictures I posted as a guide. I did two layers of the electrical tape. We've had some bad storms through my area (including today and yesterday) and not a single leakage. Take a look at the grommet and seal it then tell us if you have the issue still.

Definitely check that grommet. I had the same problem after running a power cable through it. Same symptoms. Leak behind the glove box on the passenger side.

I checked that grommet, and it seesm very easy to pull it up and expose the inside to getting wet.
I tried over and over to push that grommet down into the opening to get a tight seal, but it was almost impossible.

I ended up running a bead of silicone around the entire grommet. I hope that solves it!!!

no, the battery can stay.

You need to remove the cover that butts up to the windshield. There are 2 snaps, (like on the battery cover) plus you need to unclip the washer fluid hose from this cover. Then the cover slides right out. It is very easy.

Once you do this, you will see the grommet.

thanks man! checked it out and my grounding wires (stillen) dont go in through there but i was concerned about how much water must get in that battery area b/c of that screen like drain which must let gallons in when it rains!
