I used 800 grit automotive from the shwerwin williams paint store.

 

Those came from ebay.

 

Any chance we can get a detailed DIY? Is it as simple as you make it seem ;-)

How much did you spend on the parts? I'm soooo jealous...

 

I could write up a bit of a DIY. It might not be perfect but would give some good guidance. I don't have time in the next few days but maybe next week.
I think I have a little over $400 in everything. If you went with TSX projectors it would save you a good $100 and be easier to install.

 

It would be awesome to get a DIY...even if its a basic one. Would be good to get a sense of what tools and basic steps. $3-400 is such a small investment for the outcome..especially compared to the $1200-2000 some are charging.

Hopefully I'll have the dedication to start and finish this project...looking forward to it when you get the chance. Thanks!

are guys who are doing these projector retrofits having any condensation problems with the housings later on down the road?

that is my only concern with doing one of these conversions.

 

I have not had any problems. I opened them up twice before doing the halos and have not had a problem. With the halos I drilled a few holes on the outside too. As long as you take your time to seal them up you will not have a problem.
