Show me any Flowmaster application that outflows a Magnaflow, Corsa, or any other straight through design. And don't count claims by Flowmaster themselves. You won't find it.
Chambered (baffled) mufflers are built for the sake of sound and often sacrifice performance. They may sound faster, but in fact they are not.
As far as your pulse theory, try again. Modern engines work best with the least backpressure. Period. Engines are air pumps. The better flowing, the more power.

I have not seen this to be true. My last car (accord) lost power when we went from 2 1/2" to 3" exhaust N/A.
