Since I bought my new 2004AT. 23 September.
Made my last payment today. Decided to just skip the last 2 years on my loan. I had the money saved up, and I'm only forgoing about $100 vs putting the money into something like treasury bills. And coming out ahead compared to the 1.4% on my savings account

My 1.4% basic savings account is dramatically lower now. It was either move it into something like a 5% tbill, or pay off the car. I decided that 3 years of payments were enough.
Some of the remaining money will be spent on a vacation in 2 weeks. Otherwise, it is just an emergency fund.

Essentially I paid $10,000 down, payments for 3 years, then $11,000 to stop making payments. I should have just done a 3 year loan to begin with, though in that case, I wouldn't have had the $11,000 3 days ago
Of course, now that the car is paid off (though the money hasn't been pulled from my bank account yet, it has apparently been closed on chase's site, since it doesn't show up anymore).
Now, I can concentrate on buying new tires within the year. Looking at them, the factory EL42s don't look like they will last much past 40K miles.

We wouldn't be anywhere and not have grown without longstanding members like yourself.......
Cheers

Can't believe I'm still hanging around after this time. I started here while researching cars, but would have thought I would have got bored after having the car a few months. Have remained happy with the car in spite of a few nits with it
