Traded in my 05 AT for an 06 MT...

Just traded in my 05 AT sedan for an 06 MT sedan. I am posting as a point of reference for people interested in either selling/buying.

05 AT sedan(17K mi), base with sunroof = $23500 trade in value.

06 MT sedan, with premium B = $29150.

While the 6 MT in the G35 is really not very good compared to other makes, this car is just so much more engaging to drive than my AT sedan was. I really do have much more fun driving this car to work then I ever did with my AT sedan. The switch is not for everyone and I am sure everyone's opinon will be different than mine but it worked out for me

Congrats...

I've been thinking about trading since day 1. The automatic drives me crazy. Till now I still have my X obviously. Just looking at what options there is out there. How come you didn't wait for the 07? That's a very good price you got for the 6MT. Way under invoice...I think.

Where are you located?

I still like my G and it still looks great but just a few complains here and there. Automatic obviously is on the top of the list. Then comes the rattling, squeaks...it's everywhere. I just learn to ignore it. Another thing is mpg.

Yeah, you often hear of 5AT drivers who regret not buying a 6MT, but not vice versa. Smart move.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the support. I am glad I made the switch. To answer a few of the questions:

1) I believe I paid $100 over invoice for my 05 sedan, can't remember right not but right around $30K, maybe a bit under. It was a base model with only a sunroof as an option.

2) I didn't wait for the 07 mainly because of cost. I am fortunate enough, read wife allows me, to have a project car (05 STI) in which I spend alot of money on. I really didn't want to spend over $30k on a daily driver. I am sure by the time I checked all of the really cool options on the 07 I would be more like 37K. I would much rather spend that 7K on more track time and tires for my STI. But again that is me and not for everyone.

3) I am located in Nor. Cal. I did this at Serramonte Infiniti in Colma, CA.

I have some staggered 19" axismesh from my 05 that I plan to put on my 06. I will post some pics when I get a chance. Damn I really need to drop this car though.

my 04 is pretty tight, most of the complaint would be for ride quality...but i am getting low 20s MPG which is pretty good considering how hard i drive it. The AT and X are probably crushing your mileage

Great deal on the 06! I never regret getting my 6mt. I initially thought I might get tired of shifting in traffic or when I'm tired but not so.

I get 22-23mpg in 50/50 driving, 20mpg in 100% city, and 28-29mpg in 100% highway. I'm not complaining about my 5ATs MPGs nor it's 1/4 mile performance.

That's a pretty nice price for a brand new 06, MT ...... plus a very very good trade value for your 05 AT. (less than $6k upgrade -- yay !)

Maybe you should post some of your car negotiating tips here - you seem to be doing good in that department !!

Enjoy your ride !
