235/50/18 on stock 18" rims?
no, the "50" is the % of tire in the side wall. so, this would be HIGHER profile tire, not LOWER.
and if compare OEM 245/40-18 to the proposed 235/50-18, the proposed tire is 6% larger than OEM, which is WAY over the maximum recommended diameter difference of 3%.
in other words, 235/50-18 WILL NOT FIT.

sorry, forgot - OEM 18s do come with 235/45-18's.
comparing those with 235/50-18's, the 50s are 3.4% larger. still not a very comfortable situation. stick with 235/45-18. 255/40-18s looks like would fit, but i'm not sure if they would fit on a 7.5"-wide rim.

I'm in the same boat. I have a 04 sedan 17" and am upgrading to 18" but I like the 17" F1- GS D-3 tires that came on my stock 17" and am trying to get the same tires in 18" however that tire only comes in 235/50 and 245/45, the rims I'm getting are 18 X 8 so I guess I will go with the 245/45
