Redline?????
Redline?????
how often do you guys hit the redline...or get close to redline on your G's?
i have the TS ecu and my optimum shift point is at 6900 rpm. i think almost everytime i get onto the freeway, i hit at least 6700...in at least a couple of gears. think this is bad? how bad? or maybe good? hahaha.

Re: Redline?????
How did you determine your optimum shift point? If your engine has come up to operating temps then you should be fine bouncing off the rev limiter. Though if your not making any power that high in the rpm its really pointless.

Re: Redline?????
to get the optimum shift point, i believe my car was dynod in 4th and 5th. the rpm at which the 2 graphs cross is the optimum shift point...it is where the current gear begins to lose power and the next gear will best pick up power. good knowledge for drag races.

Re: Redline?????
I try to hit redline at least a couple of times a day to keep the system lean. Remeber these engines are made for redlining. Holding it there, no- but short spikes to 6700 and you will see longer engine life due to less fuel/oil build-up in the internals.
I'm still trying to figure the shift points out myself, I haven't "felt" much hp gain from 5500rpm-6500.

Re: Redline?????
There may not be much gain in that region, but if you shift too early, you'll drop the RPM's too low into the next gear. The ideal shift point is the point at which the torque in the current gear is equal to what the torque will be at the lower RPM in the next gear up (or redline, whichever comes first!
