Had a 2007 Sedan visit today, took some pics
Hmmmmm. I'll stick with my 05. I'm starting to think the 05 and 06 are going to be a keeper (no offense to 03/04 owners...those are the "original"). Yes, interior of the 07 is nice, but the exterior, I agree - I prefer the uniqueness of the current G...not the M-look-alike of the 07. I'm not too excited about the idea of it being quieter either. The exhaust note on the current ones is addicting.

I think for me I need to see the G with a nice dark color....black, dk blue, red etc...with dark tint in person to really comment on it. I think it is good overall...especially the perf. increase and hood dampers/b.fluid cover etc.
That would be my biggest issue as well. I like it but it looks too much like the M35.

in my opinion it is no longer a g35 it is not a m i looks way to rund in the back and the front is the same as the m......rounder no loner slanted or like wedged....doint get me wrong it is an ok looking car but for a g it sucks!!!! the are killing the g's style
right now best time to get 06 g35's. i doubt the new g35 will sell as well. Nissan was a little sloppy leaving the prototype in that junkyard for someone to find. looks like they purposely trashed the car, why i have no idea. They could of sold it and saved 30K.

i cant wait for the coupe to come out with that interior!
+1 for infiniti
i think these will sell A LOT more than the current sedans.

Nissan/Infiniti needs to pick a market and stay with it. Unless they're proven functional, spoilers and scoops don't belong on a car in this market, IMHO. However, I admit I prefer sleepers, with "understated elegance" over "hey, look at me". Given the spoiler is allegedly a stand alone option as one previous poster mentioned, it appears they are trying to get both markets; but I think it dilutes the brand. IMHO, let the Nissan brand have the "ricer" add-on for visual effect image, and move the Infiniti brand to compete head-on with the Germans who seem to put function ahead of style in priority.
I'm convinced that '07 G35 engine is purposefully detuned to keep the performance in line with the rest of Infiniti's lineup. 8 hp, new SAE rating scheme or not, seems like an unacceptable return on all the investment they made on upgrading that engine. Since you can't get a 325hp M45 with a manual, I suggest they should immediately allow the '07 6MT G35 have its hp to compete better with the '07 BMW 335 and its flat 300 lb ft torque curve. With variable valve timing on intake and exhaust, I'd think they could get at least 325 out of this engine without forced induction, more if they vary the lift, too, and take that redline north of 7000. Nissan engineering should be at least as good as Honda, who is getting over 100hp per liter on its 8000 rpm S2000 without forced induction. HP well above 400 in a future Skyline Turbo doesn't seem like an unreasonable expectation to me.
If they're saving the hp for the G35 coupe, Skyline, or 350Z, I think that's kind of dumb since there will always be people who need the sedan over a coupe - but I suppose those marketers figured out in some kind of focus group that sportscoupes don't seem as great when they come to market with hp/torque numbers that "only" match the sedan. So, we'll likely see the same pattern with this generation as the last - the coupes will come out with higher hp; and the sedan hp numbers will follow a year or two later, if not earlier. Heck, BMW just did it with the new 3 series coupe, although it's already out that the sedan only has to wait a couple of months to get matching hp.
I'll be looking forward to the first dyno test of the '07 - it would be nice if they're just underrating it vs. detune - kind of like what some Nissan enthusiasts discoverd with the V6 Altima and Maxima a couple of years ago: same power, but apparently underrated the Altima for marketing purposes.
Maybe it's more cost effective to "pre-engineer" product upgrades; but detuning for product marketing planning purposes always makes me feel manipulated. Unfortunately, there's enough people willing to take the depreciation hit to trade within generations to get an 20 extra hp that its worth the trade-off of alienating people like me, especially if every other car company is doing it to the point we can't escape the marketing manipulators. Oh well, I guess it's an unfortunate side-effect of capitalism. Without it, we'd all be driving Trabants. So, I may just have to buy a detuned 306hp '07 G35 and live with it. Maybe it will only take a rechipping to match the planned '08/'09 power levels.
Another thought from an engineering perspective: I suppose detuning can also happen if the transmissions havn't yet been engineered to handle more power, or the durability trade-off at higher output levels is unacceptable...I prefer griping that it's all the marketers fault, myself...
