This is not my car but I think I have the same bumper, I bought the car used and this is the only other G I have seen with the same bumper. It looks like a stock bumper but has an opening in the middle of the bumper below the tow hook cover....

Is it just a cut-away insert for something?

That would explain it, I have a 05 G35x. I wonder why that is there, to cool the front Diff?

I posted this awhile ago asking if people know the functionality of the extra duct. It is only on the X.

air to cool off the front differential. RWD has no front differential, therefore we don't have one and don't need one.

Mine is not the X model, but I still have that opening in the front bumper....without a clue as to what it does (since I don't have a front diff on mine)...

That's odd. I always thought it was to cool the diff too.

Noticed the non-X w/ the bumper is in Kuwait. Maybe it's because of the excessive heat there...trying to get additional cooling into the engine bay? Just a guess.

Good point!

That was the first non-X I have seen with it, still none in the US.

I have also thought of that possibility, our 9 month summer is can be a killer...but I guess that means that all the G35s marketed in the Middle East region are like that, no G35X, or 6mt or anything else.
