I heard the HKS and it was not too bad but a little loud for my taste. It would be fun sometimes.

I would like to have some kind of valve that opens/closes and additional resonator so my exhaust could be very quiet when I wanted and switch to more aggressive for spirited driving. (Not like the ones that go wide open I have seen, those are too raspy)

did listen to the coupe HKS?? bc i see you have Borla and Borla is louder, alot louder than the HKS... im surprised on how many people find the HKS loud, its just deeper than stock, not really loud, its more like a stock coupe sound, its too quiet for me so im waiting on fast intetions to see if theirs is louder/deeper w/o the rasp

The one I head was on a sedan but it was louder than my borla. That's strange... I don't know if he had a coupe mid pipe or not. Have they changed it at all? This was a while back.

im running a coupe middy with the HKS and to me is quiet compared to other setups, like i said it sounds to me like a stock coupe, maybe a bit deeper but not loud

Wow, you guys would hate my setup. Stillen gen1, with crawfords cats/soon-to-be kinetix resonated test pipes. It resonates like hell in the cabin.

But I actually like it. I don't even hear it any more, unless Cheryl's in the car. It's a mixed bag; on the one hand, I sometimes can't hear what she says. On the other, I sometimes can't hear what she says

Trey,

Just curious, how does the sound of your current setup compare to when you ran mufflerless. Is it louder or softer?

Alright, I think I will need to go shopping to make up for your unpleasant comments. I think a new car will do nicely.

IMHO, on the outside of the car it is softer than without the muffler. The problem is INSIDE the car - there is a small RPM range that is about as pleasant as nails on a chalkboard.

It is softer. Just curious, did you watch that video? If you did, then you heard as much as I did. As soon as I pulled back in the muffler was reattached. So it's hard to say just how much droning there was without the muffler; which really makes it hard to compare to my current, or new, setup.

I've got a few videos of my stillen with my stock cats. I never posted them up. One of the videos is of my car free-revving in the work parking lot. The other videos are of me attempting to do a fly-by, but those were disappointing. Not enough room to get into third gear, and the engine noise overpowered the exhaust.

I hope to do a few videos of my current setup before I take off the cats. Then a few more after the test pipes. Who knows, maybe one day I'll get to put them all together into one video for comparison.

I will say one thing: my current note is just pure sex IMO at 4k rpms under maybe a 25% load. Third gear sounds the best. I'll try really hard to get that on film.

2003 sedan with coupe mid. Sounds great. Love it. Not loud. No drone compared to my last set up. Personal opinions/preferences vary widely on this. What's loud to me may be quiet to others.

I always say "If it's too loud you're too old". Just kidding man! I'd give it some more time. The longer I have had mine the more I like it.

Trey,

I did watch the video but it has been so long I don't remember it very well. I keep kicking around the cat/test pipe thing but just haven't gotten up the nerve to do it.

Post the video when you get one you are satisfied with. I would love to hear what your car sounds like.

i find it sounds slightly louder than stock, but definitely deeper than stock...this is with stock midpipe too... i like even more after driving it for about 2 hours on highway... especially during the colder mornings or nights...
