stock tires
recently... ive noticed that my tires really suck... i dunt see myself as a very aggressive driver.. but sometimes when i turn.. my tires peel out.. and just the other day, i salmed on my gas at the light (not a launch.. just a straight out slam on the pedal).. and my tires slipped...
has anyone else experienced this?

Re: stock tires
Had kind of the same problem today. I had to make a quick right form a stop. I gunned it (with VDC Off) and sent the rear end into a wild fish tail that nearly took out a car in the other lane. Conditions were dry with no dirt or gravel on the road. The tires are adequate, but definately not performance. What would be a better tire?

Re: stock tires
I switched to Michelin's A/S Sport. Had Goodyears' GS D which were very good on dry surfaces, and good on lightly wet surfaces. Terrible in light snow. Tried the new tread several days ago, and believe I experienced 2-3gs since we are always under a force of 1g. The direction thread did what they have been advertised to do: I was launched without tire slippage.

Re: stock tires
The G has a funky sized tire that leads to little range of choice. If its money you want to save and performance you want then try Kuhmo 712's. The are great but when they get about 10k on them they can whine a bit too much. BFG KDW's would also be a good choice but more expensive they do have good wear though. Both tires do not come in the stock size so going wider is the only choice at this time.
Hope you find what you are looking for, tires can make such a difference. Keep the air pressures up and some of the tire squeal goes away-36PSI. That my 2cents added to the pot.

Re: stock tires
Consider going to 235/50/17 size. Accoring to mfgr., they can be used on rim widths from 6.5"-8.5", so our 7.0" rim width shouldn't be a problem. Also, this size has almost zero speedo/gearing error. There is a much bigger selection of performance tires available in this size than the stock size---and you're putting almost a inch wider tread patch on the road.

Re: stock tires
G35guy what brands of tire are you talking about? The tirerack only list one tire in that size with a V or better speed rating? My dealer also states that a 235/50 17 is too tall. They recommend a 235/45 17 or 225/50 17. Tire rack recommends 235/50 17 but the dealer says not to use it. They are quoting Nissan's recommendations.

Re: stock tires
I've heard that Infiniti recommends not going wider than 225 in the front, but saying that 235/50R17 is too tall is interesting, as that size it just a hair smaller in diameter than 215/55R17.
Getting the math from http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/size.htm, here is the outside diameter of the stock tires vs. TireRack's recommended plus zero size:
215/55R17 is 215 x .55 x 2 + 431.8(17") = 668.3mm (26.31")
235/50R17 is 235 x .50 x 2 + 431.8(17") = 666.8mm (26.25")
So, if it's too big, it's because it's too wide, not because it's too tall (it's a little more than 3/4" wider -- 20mm = 0.79"). Also, when I pull up the list for that size, TireRack gives me 12 different tires rated V or higher.
