Highway miles is the key. If you put on a lot of city miles, like I do, you will get 18 at best. Driving easy doesn't make too much of a difference compared to normal driving. I've tried different driving styles but I am always within 1-2 mpg of my average.

Don't trust the trip computers in car's. They're about worthless. You need to calculate MPG the right way (miles driven divided by gallons put in). My 03 5AT sedan sees 19-20mpg in 100% city, 22-23mpg in 50/50, and 27-28mpg in 100% highway. In the cooler months, you can knock off about 1.5mpg due to extended engine warm up and crappy winter gas.

I don't understand why no one trusts the trip computers. I calculated my mileage the old fashioned way and it came out exactly to what my computer said. And, on my most recent fill-up, it still seems to be working fine. My gauge says I have about half a tank left, car has a 20 gallon tank, and I've traveled 180 or so miles since filling up. That means that I'm getting 18-19 miles per gallon, which is exactly what the trip comptuer says.

The only dicey part is the "distance to empty guage". You need to drive a lot of miles to calibrate that and get an accurate reading.

All my rental vehicles (F150s, Rams, Explorers, Muranos, Grand Prixs, etc) all have trip computers they're usually off 10% +/-.

The simple fact of the matter folks, is that the car is fun to drive and not the best on gas mileage. If you came from a HONDA or something similar yes the mileage will look bad, but if you previously drove a truck or any large engine vehicle it's not bad. City miles suck but highway miles are fun plain and simple. My $.02

I took a trip to Arizona from San Diego - about 465 miles one way. I was consistently getting 26 to 28 mpg using Regular fuel. I have an '06 sedan - no mods.

I have an 04 Coupe and I get around 315 per fill-up per the odometer reading. I fill up before it hits the E line.

Dude, you are a complete douche. I'm not an idiot, I DO KNOW that my car is a V6 and is 298 horsepower.

All I'm saying is that there are other people on these boards claiming 25+ MPG and I'm getting 17-19. I just wanted to know if there is something wrong or if I should get the car looked at. I'm not "bitching" about gas.

And those of us who can afford to pay $34,000 cash for a car don't get there by putting more money in the gas tank than we have to. If the car gets 18 mpg, fine. But if it's supposed to get 25, I want to know why I'm not getting it.

Someday, if you ever actually get some money, you will understand
