I don't agree that they cut "a lot of corners" with the G35, I like the quality feel of mine, I know, it's new, but I had some issues with the Mustang right away, within days, carpet wasn't attached right, a moulding piece in the interior kept falling off, a rattle under the dash that never was fixed,etc, and so far I have none with this car, everything seems put together right, all the gaps on the trunk, hood and doors are the same, the Mustang, the trunk lid was not mounted right, the space was different from left to right, I don't know that I would call the interior "ratty" though, that would be reserved for the '73 Datsun pickup I owned some years ago, LOL!

Here is where I think they cut corners on the G35.

The carpet is cheap cheap cheap. Pull up your floor mats and you will see what I mean.

The material on the sun visor is cheap. the a pillars have a nicer material

The silver paint on the center console scratches too easily

Plastic around the clock and hvac dispaly scratches easily.

Power seats don't have enough adjustments. I would like to lower my seat.

Winshield wiper motor causes clutch pedal to vibrate, whats iup with that?

Interior rattles up the A$$. the stereo shouldn't be able to rattle interior pieces on a new car.

Chintzy looking rims. How come the coupe gets nice 18" wheels?
