Question for those w/ Stillen CAI

Is there any risk of hydrolocking your engine with this cold air intake? I worry about this because my area is often quite flooded and torrential rainstorms occur a lot.

Also as a follow up question, how do these sound and are the gains noticeable? I have a totally stock 04 G35 Sedan.

Stillens CAI.............

Stillens CAI doesn't extend into the fenderwell. It just
replaces factory airbox so there's no chance of hurting the engine.........that's a good thing!!
I've had mine for two years now and love it!

I don't think you run much more risk with a Stillen than stock. The riskier intakes are of the long tube variety. As far as sound goes, I love it. Gains aren't noticeable.

The design is just like the stock so there is no more risk.

I just installed my Stillen CAI tonight and the sound with the Ztube is crazy! It really makes the engine sound like the beast i is! And the is no more chance of hdrolocking it vs. stock IMO. Awesome mod!

Safe as stock as noted...HP difference is not noticable, but your not really going to be able tell the difference with a couple extra HP and does sound better in my opinion. I would also 'forget' to put on the bottom bolt as it a major pain in the **** and when you clean your filter you have to do it all over again.

stillen makes 2 intakes, cold air box which replaces the stock box and a cold air intake that looks like any other cold air intake that goes into the bumper area

^^^ Really? Haven't seen one before. But then again, I haven't really looked.

To the OP, I used to own the Injen CAI and I did suck water up in that from a car wash The water thankfully only got on the MAF and temporarily disabled my car and then it went away. I got rid of that junk and went back to stock. After getting my Stillen SC I decided to go with the Stillen CAI and I love it. The sound is awesome and I get this ever so slight whistle effect with I barely press the throttle. And best part is... NO HYDROLOCK!!!!
