Is this a good deal?

Hello Everyone. I am new to this forum. I am in the market for a new G35 sedan. This is the best deal I have received so far. Please let me know if this is a good deal.
2006 G35 Sedan Black Ext, Wheat Int
Auto
Base model with sunroof
Dealer installed spoiler and tint
$28,000 + tax tag and fees = $29,363

The dealer said with this price he is basically adding the spoiler and tint for free. TIA for any opinions.
P.S. I am in Raleigh, NC

good deal, good timing since they're making room for the new 2007 sedan.

He's not adding the spoiler and tint for free. Are you getting the spoiler as part of the aero package (spoiler & suspension) or is it just the spoiler. What he's telling you is that he's taking the the cost of the spoiler and tint off of the sticker price. Which is room that he had to work with anyway. Nothing is free my friend, especially when you're buying a car.

Lets put it this way, I got a 6mt sedan with Nav, Aero, Sunroof, Bose, Sirius, and splash guards for 33,900. I've probably got $6000 worth of options on top of the base model, so I would say that the $28,000 price is about right.

However, it is October 13th. The 2007's are going to be out any day now. They HAVE TO MOVE THIS CAR. Also think about that fact that you are buying a two wheel drive automatic. Probably not in high demand unless you live in a really warm climate. Even then, it's probably still the least desireable combination that you can get in the G35. Most people either want the power and performance of a manual shift, or the safety and security of AWD.

Bottom line, they have to move the car, and it's not something they can just sell to anybody. Which is why its still on the lot today. You have the upper hand here, use it.

The dealer incentives change every month. I know Nissan was really pushing them in September when I bought mine. It's only October, they should still be giving the dealer a lot of room. Find out what the invoice price is. I got mine for $700 below invoice. In your case I would offer the guy $1000 below invoice and go up from there. Don't pay more than $500 below invoice. If he doesn't go for it, walk away. Let him sweat it out for a day or two. He should call you back. If he doesn't, then you know you're getting the best deal possible.

$500 BELOW INVOICE, NOT A PENNY MORE!

Invoice is $31,000 according to carsdiret.com and edmunds.com. However, infiniti has a $2500 incentive which would put the car at $28,500. The car does not have the aero package. The spoiler would be a dealer installed option. In NC, we don't really need an all wheel drive. I am just checking on the 06 to see if I get a really good deal. If not, I am in no rush and will get a 07.

I beg to differ...if you don't believe me take a poll of what % of sedan owners on here are 5AT RWD you'd be surprised....now stop talking out of your ***..

I got my 2005 base sedan auto (no sunroof) with sports package on Sept 2005 for $27500. The car had 8 miles on the ODO and all the shipping materials were still on. Thats around $5500 below MSRP IIRC. I would wait for the 07 G35 personally. Tinting the 5 windows doesn't cost more than $150, so don't need to count that in the equation really.

Take a look at moderninfiniti.com.. They have stores in Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Lake Norman. They have an internet manager and will deal via e-mail. Actually, it sounds like a pretty fair deal you negotiated. I got my X about this time of year 2 years ago from Modern. No BS, no haggling, good price right out of the box. Like others have said, they want to move the 06s out, and may deal. OTOH, the 07s sure look sweet!

I contacted them too and they all quoted $1000 more than my local dealer.

That sounds like a fair deal to me too. I got my 06 6MT with premium, trunk mat, tint, and clear bra for $30,000 back in July. Came out to $5080 off sticker. That was with the $2000 incentive at the time. Best thing is to state your price upfront and tell the dealer you'll put $1000 down right there if they meet that. That tends to alleviate all of the price haggling.

I picked up a 06 base model AT sedan for $27500 a couple months ago, so I would say your getting a pretty good deal. I say go without the options because if your likely to mod it your going to change out a lot of parts...suspension, different sound system (Not a fan of the included Bose as I had one in my I30 and was not impressed.), and so forth. I like doing my own upgrades with my own preferences outside what the dealer offered.

While the 07 has a lot of 'buzz' your not going to get the savings of buying an 06. I say go for the 06 its a great car and a lot of fun to drive and with the money you save you can add a lot to the car.
