Gave some new tires a go... Eagle ResponsEdge
Just put on some Goodyear ResponsEdge's on my sedan...

They seemed to get good reviews on tirerack. They're interesting because they appear to be made out of two different compounds... the harder more 'plastic-y' all-season compound on the inside (3/5ths of the tire width), and the softer, stickier, summer compound on the remaining outside edge (about 2/5ths of the width). Figured I'd give them a whirl since we're getting into wet season now and the colder temperatures are upon us.
I got about 25k out of the Firestone Wide Ovals I just took off, and I was very happy with them, although they got real noisy toward the end (although I guess this is true of most tires)
My first impressions are that the ResponsEdge's are a grippy tire with EXCELLENT performance in the wet. The dry performance seems excellent too but I haven't had enough dry this weekend to REALLY put them through the wringer
Did I mention that they're super quiet (at least for now)?
So... They're not the most expensive tires (I bought them locally for $162 a piece - pricey in the big scheme o' things, but for our cars - not pricey at all) And so far they handle very nicely, are super quiet, and look good. I bought 235/50/17s for my 2004 Sedan. They balanced well immediately (unlike the Firestones which took a few attempts and required lots of ugly weights) and so far I'm a happy camper... Anyone who remembers me on here from the past will know I'm QUITE opinionated when it comes to tires
Goodyear is giving a $40 cash card with the purchase of 4, and Discount Tire is giving a $50 rebate when buying 4 too... So out of the door with tires, certs, lifetime rotation and balancing etc... $871. Minus the rebates, it'll be $781. Not too shabby for shoeing our cars
Thought I'd post a little mini-review in case anyone is shopping right now... These are worth a look, especially at this time of year when you need some all-seasons without giving up too much performance from the summer tires you love so much.
As usual the Goodyears (these are Eagles) come with a 30 day trial period which really helps with the comfort level of dropping the best part of a grand.
I'll update the review in a month or so if anyone's interested in an update.
Take care!

I bought the same tires and have put about 5k mile on them. Just rotated this weekend and Discount Tire said that the wear was minimal. I drive my 03G/4dr. hard and have found these tires to be exceptional. I have the 235/50/17 on the stock 6 spoke wheel and they look great. I highly recommend these tires.
I put the general exclaim UPHs on my 19s. I can't be happier with them. smooth ride, quiet ride, great traction, great handling......and all for less than $150 per tire (shipping from the Tire Rack!!!)
From the looks of things, this is the tire I'll replace my A/S Avon's with. (Granted, the Avon's are not a bad tire... but they are definately not a great tire. My biggest complaint is the weak sidewalls - I guess I was spoiled by the GS-D summers).
Has anyone used both the OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-A and this Eagle ResponsEdge? I'm running on RS-A's right now, but was thinking about changing over to the new ResponsEdge since my back tires are just hitting the wear mark. Kind of sucks though that I just bought 2 RS-A front tires from a place that failed to mention or offer me the ResponsEdge's. Just wondered if anyone was able to compare both of them to each other.
