brake pad life would depend on driving habit. why would you think it would be covered under warranty. Its not a defect with the braking system.

Maybe. Either way that is great. Enjoy.

Mine were gone at 21k and 39k.

21k was under warranty, 39k I ended up replacing the rotors/pads myself.

Does anyone know if the 05+ models also changed the master cylinder or just the rotors/calipers?

The dealer fixed my 2005's warped rotors at 25k miles under warranty and I got the pads replaced elsewhere with OEM pads I bought from G35_TX on this forum. I have had no further problems and the car stops better than the loaners with only 3k miles on their pads.

It has been my experience that dealerships will always tell you to repair or replace parts that don't need repairing or replacing. Have you noticed declining performance with your brakes? Are they squeaking or grinding? Is that why you brought your car in?

This is very true .... it does depend on your driving habit.

When I had gone for an oil change some time back, I was informed about my pads thinning. Then after about 2 months started hearing niose while braking. Went to the dealer immediately and changed. A little less than $600.

I did around 20k on these pads.

BTW, the brakes are covered in the first 36k miles.

This is the price you pay for having exceptional braking performance. In order for high performance brakes to perform, things must wear and often quickly. Mercedes and BMW owners report the same replacement schedules ($500 every 30K miles).

If you're a shade tree mechanic then you can replace the front pads (OEM) and rotors (Brembo replacements) for about $150, a couple hand tools, and an hour of your time.

i also agree I dont 30-35k miles is unreasonable for high performance braking. I'f consider doing it myself if you have time/inclination.

for $600 I'd suggest some cryo treated slotted rotors and carbon/kevlar pads it'll stop great and should last longer, haven't had mine on long enough to tell what milleage to expect though.

They just called me now that the brake rotors and the brake pads are wearing out and needs to be replaced right away.

WHy would I replace them at 29,000 miles?? I told them No because it suppose to cost me another 600$

Did it do the right thing? How do I know if I need to replace them?
And hence the problem with paying for the things that are included in a 30K service that they just check/inspect. A portion of the $500 you paid them for the 30K service is for them to inspect your brakes. Now they want full price to change your brakes when they already have the tires off.

You shouldn't have to pay them to inspect the brakes AND pay them
full price to replace your brakes. I don't know of any other place that charges you extra to inspect your brakes if you wind up having them replaced there.

In addition paying them to inspect any of the other things that would be covered under warranty is pointless. I mean think about it, if you had a bad alternator that was covered under warranty, they wouldn't ask you to pay for them to inspect the alternator if they found a problem with it.

The bottom line is that dealer services are not there to service your car. They are there to service the dealers pockets since they always seem to add a lot of fluff type things that don't really need to be done and that the manufacturer doesn't require.

Check out AP Racing 4 pot 13" rotor BBK including stainless steel lines. They have been in business for along time (they make brakes for Grand Prix and Indy cars).I've done lots of research on brake kits.Don't go with factory brakes. They may not last.I'm very satisfied with mine, hardly any brake dust and no squeaking.Much improved brake pedal feel.Cost less than Brembos.
