Again...check out the commets in Autoweek about the Maxima's handling. It's not just an "enthusiast" vs. "non-enthusiast" thing...they considered the torque steer so bad as to be dangerous... The car is obviously not even close to sport sedan handling standards.

Yes, the 2-hour thing is written down. I forget where, exactly, but I have seen it.

I was just pointing out that not all Infiniti dealerships are rosy. The car itself, however, is a blast. To me, the best thing about it is the smile it still puts on my face when I drive it.. and I've had mine for 10 months now.

Well, it's done.. Just bought a 2004 Garnett Red G35 Sedan today. The Maxima dealership that offered me the deal could just beat the G35, and they are 27 miles from my house. You can't beat the service at Motorwerks of Barrington. I feel very comfortable buying a car from them..

the car is awesome.. what more can I say?

I know that you already made the (obviously correct decision to buy the G35, but I'm writing this for others who might stumble upon this thread. I think a lot of people face the same choice, I know I did. One thing that wasn't mentioned anywhere in here is the warranty. Nissan Maxima comes with a 3years/36K miles warranty while the G35 comes with a 4 years/60K miles. Big issue for me, since I drive a lot. Also, the level of service is incomparable. These were the two arguments that convinced me to go for the G35. Now that I've had the car for a few months, I would add the RWD to the argument. My previous cars were all FWD, I didn't know what I was missing.

Hope this helps somebody make their decision.

 

Excellent point. Whenever I am torn between two very similar cars I will look at long term ownership costs and take the one with the better relaibility/service/warranty combination. Of course in this case the cars are not similar at all, the G being vastly better to drive as well as having better residuals, service ,warranty etc. Good luck with your new G35.

The best thing about my G35: today on the way to work I wanted to get past a string of slow traffic after a turn onto a long slip road leading onto a highway. For the first time (just finished breakin) I hit 6500rpm in anger in 1st, 2nd and 3rd (to 85mph). Looked in the mirror and the passed cars were just dots.
