me (g35s) vs F150 SVT lightening

i knew these trucks were fast, but i didkn't know how fast they were until today. i saw a fast moving truck about a 1/8mile away... we were both stopped by the light and he started to rev.. well i decided to race him (2001 Ford F-150 SVT lightening). from dead stop and until to mid 3rd gear we were neck to neck, but after.. i got raped. on the next light he had to make left while i had to make a right.. i just gave him a big thumbs up. i came home and checked the numbers on the ford... well it apparently runs 13.8seconds in 1/4mile. i guess i have to get my nismo supercharger when it comes out.

Those things are real fast, faster than 13.8 depending on the year. Stay away from them!

Yeah, but they can't corner. After all, it's a truck. Take consolation in the fact that his highway mileage is worse than your city mileage. Although, you could probably load his bed up with a ton of junk and hook a G35 up to his tow hitch, and he wouldn't feel it.

Do you think the G35 can smoke the new Doge Ram Hemi since that car is suppose to compete against the F150 lightening?

proobably not, but then you can pass them after they have to stop at the gas station. And then way on down the line, you can smoke both of them because they will be at the shop getting fixed.

haha.. trucks aren't meant to go that fast.. they're meant to haul things and waste a ton of gas.

Re: me (g35s) vs F150 SVT lightening

HI guys I don’t want to seem like a troll since I registered here just for this post. I just want to clear some stuff up.

1) 2001 and up Lightning have a re done suspension and a better intercooler yielding better performance. Stock they will run 13.5@102mph with a 1.9 60 foot time.

2) Just because it is a truck does not mean it can not handle. SVT has put in countless hours and $$ in developing the suspension. It is rated at .87g's in the skid pad. Its sheer size and weight though do not allow it to be nimble. So it is well suited for road courses but not something like Solo II racing. It handles well but is not tossable. Am I making sense here? Did I explain that right? I know it’s hard to believe a truck can out handle most sports cars on the road today but in this case it’s true.

3) The lightning did not sacrifice towing ability. It is rated at being able to tow 5000 pounds. A bit less then a regular F-150 but that is because of the lower suspension. The 2003's are 1 inch higher in the back and can tow 6000 pounds. (Done for insurance purposes)

4) You guys are absolutely correct about the gas consumption. It is with out a doubt stupid. It is worse then my race car. I hate it.

The thing about a lightning is $600 in mods will nock a full second off the 1/4 mile times. A pulley, chip and plugs will get you deep in the 12's.
I hope this was good info for some of you guys. Please feel free to visit my website and check out my pics. The site is not done yet but what the hey

PS, I absolutely love the G35!! It was between the G35 and the lightning for my daily driver. The L was just more practical for my needs.

Any way I think I have over stayed my welcome.
Take care guys.
,Jason

Jason, Glad to here from you. You're welcome any time, feel free to drop in and chat. We haven't heard too much first hand about the 'L' except that it's one Bad A$$ ride., and it's capabilties are beyond what most of us thought!
Like previous Fords I've had, the mods are available and at a reasonable cost. Hopefully Nissan will come thru soon for us too.
Thanks for the Kudos on the G. It really is one special ride. Perhaps when you get tired of 'truckin' you'll consider one again.
