Exclamation 05 G35X Starting Problem

my wife started up her 05 G35X this morning and it made a weird noise, smoke started coming from somewhere and there was a strong gas smell. The car was revving abnormally also. She is gonna make an appointment with the dealer, but anybody have any ideas of whats wrong?

I had something similar happen about a month ago on my '06. This is what the service manager from my dealer told me. Apparently on cold starts(engine being cold), if you start the car and shut off quickly after start up there is a build up of gas in the combustion chamber. Our motor is designed to do what it did on your wife's car to get rid of the extra fuel. The service manager said that he gets a call from their body shop at least twice a week with this, because they have a tendency to start the car and shut it off quickly. My symptoms were the same as with your wife's car and it scared the crap out of me , but after talking to the service manager he assured me that it is weird, but normal. Hope this helps.

Reecard is correct. It would only be a problem if it does it every time you start the car indicating a leaking injector.
