Car won't start....? I need your help guys!!

I just tried to start my car and all I get is a click. I tried to jumpstart it, but it still wont start. Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this?

Make sure it's in Parking completely. What was the last time you drove it?

I made sure the rubber mats beneath the clutch weren't in the way to start it and still no start. I drove it last night. 2 days ago I accidentally left a map light on for about 4 hours. My horn, radio, ac, wipers work fine.

does push start still work on these new cars? I used to always help my dad push his car while he jumps his car lol that was like 15 years ago though...

Yes a rolling start works on any manual with a clutch... so it should start up by rolling it down a hill no problem. You should probably get a new battery or your alternator is dead

Don't wanna sound like an idiot, but could the problem be just a dead battery? You mentioned that you left the map light on for 4 hours a couple days ago, and you tried to jump the battery one time but no success, so I'm sure that means that your battery is on its last leg.

The radio and stuff might still work even if there is no enough current in the battery to turn the starter. You should also check the ground on the battery to the car.

If it clicks than it is trying to start so it's not the BCM

I agree with ttrank that the battery could have enough juice for the lights but not enough to turn over the starter. I'd also suggest checking ALL the connections-at the battery, ground and on the starter, as a little corrosion can ruin the connection. if it is clicking, it suggests it is not the safety switch. Good luck, and let us know the outcome.

Yes, you guys are right, it was the battery. I let the car charge up a little longer using jumper cables and it started right up. It was just weird that it wouldn't start cuz I actually drove the car that morning. Anyway, thanks for all your help guys!

I'm glad it was a "simple" problem. You may want to check the battery and alternator system to be sure the battery is good and that the alternator is charging properly, since this seems a little premature for a battery death. The map light being on for several hours might not have drained a well-charged, good, battery. (I've left them on, but don't tell anyone or I might lose my cred as a G35 driver -if I ever had any!)
