Question How to tell what options are on used car?

I apologize if I'm not posting in the right forum...the buyers forum seems geared to specific price and buying questions.

I'm combing through online ads and they never mention any options.

Out of literally 50+ ads I've seen maybe 3 mentioned xenon headlights.

Every listing just has very generic G35 Sedan then lists all the common features every car has.

What are the visual ways to see if a car has a sports package? Different wheels/tires?

In 2003/2004 what were popular options/packages? Every other maker has trim packages like my honda is a top of the line EX-L w/Navi.

Hmm. Edmunds states Xenon High Intensity Discharge Headlights are standard equipment. Is this so on the 04?

Think I'll really try to get the 04 to get as much of the warranty as I can.

I guess it would be tough to tell from online pics if theres a suspension package or just wheel/tire upgrade.

Does infiniti (or anyone) have a way to enter VIN and see what the heck the car has? Either every car offered online has no options or people just have no clue how to find out.

i believe sport package has 5 spoke wheels (in the 2003 at least) vs. the non-sport which is 6 spoke
xenon headlights should be standard all as far as i know, maybe they just forgot to list or werent aware of it

Hmm. That would be really good to know if it is the case. Can anyone confirm if it is so...and if true for the 04 as well?

Any other way to tell?

Thanks gwiz35.

So, Xenon is an option. A lot of cars seem to have the premium package...nice to know what is in it.

Well, that manual car I posted a link to above was sold already. I'll keep my eye out for any minty fresh ones in FL.

Xenons were optional on the '03 but I think with the '03.5 they became standard equipment.

Maybe some '03.5 drivers can tell us for sure.

^^ You're right as my 03.5 has HIDs.

Also while we're talking about the '03 and '03.5, one good thing to tell them apart is the trunk. If the G35 has the doggy-door trunk handle, it's an '03; otherwise it's an '03.5. The front end looks identical for both the '03, '03.5 and '04.

There are some 03.5's with cloth and no HID's. There is one at my work and he is a member of this forum.

Most of the features are pointed out my the members listed above. As for the HID's I don't believe that they were standard until the 05 models. So if your looking at an 04 just turn them on and you will notice how (if they are HID's ) they start off a little dim then warm up (get brighter) within a second or two. Some other signs of varioius packages as the members pointed out are the five spoke rims are with sports suspension, full size spare tire, reclining rear seats.......good luck on your search.
