Get a silent, paging alarm w/ motion detection. I had it on my 4x4 back in college and ended up making 2 guys wet themselves. Seriously. One of them had his lips wrapped around the barrel of my .40 S/W sucking on it like the stool pusher he was. My friend was there and we still laugh about it sometimes 10 years later. I don't think they broke into cars anymore after that.

I remember reading about others on this forum, also from Florida, about them getting their headlights stolen as well. Seems to be big business in Florida and in other states too I'm sure.

Motion sensored alarm? Good luck

I am very sorry for your problem. My headlights were stolen a year ago October. Here is the thread about it.

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/70442-my-g-broken-tonight.html

It is very easy and quick to steal the lights. The lights cost about $750 each, just for the part, to replace them. They apparently sell for a few hundred on the street.

I now park further down my driveway where the car is not visible from the main street, but is somewhat visible from a side street. There is a motion sensing light that I installed there. I also now have a Viper paging alarm so I can call the police immediately. I have had some false alarms from the shock sensor from what I think are animals (racoons) bumping the car.

I built a metal frame from fence posts that I drive the nose of the car in to so that the hood can not be lifted and it is hard to get at the lights (the frame is against a building wall). There are two cross pieces that the wheels drive on to in order to prevent the frame from being lifted. I'm in trouble if my battery dies-I'll have to be pulled back a few feet out of the frame.

All in all, an expensive episode with subsequent inconvenience.

I hope you are not bothered again.

Sorry,

Get an alarm with a proximity sensor (basically... a motion detector like the other guy said). Will warn / go off when any object comes within about 6 inches to your car. I've got the Viper 791 xv and am thinking about getting the proximity added. I wish I would have gotten it when I had it originally installed though.

The man who installed my Viper did not recommend the proximity alarm as he felt there are too many false alarms form people, animals, etc.

The lights can be stolen without opening the hood, I believe, but then the tabs break and they are highly suspect of being stolen goods when put up for sale. When done carefully with the hood open, the tabs stay intact and they are worth more. Teh whole thing takes 2-3 minutes in practiced hands I've been told.

Six months before mine were stolen a local Audi lot had about 40 cars damaged from headlight thieves.

I'm going to let the police confront the criminals, as I don't want to die over headlights (even expensive ones).
