all sedan owners thinking about lowering.

I did not post this to argue or hear what everyone thinks. Its just information that the dealer tech told me and I found out the hard way. I did not notice my shocks were blown too, until I took them out, cuz it drove fine and had no fluid leaks. Dosen't matter worth sh**, if its not stock sedan springs, it will blow, Guaranteed, no ifs or buts about it. Thats all I wanted to say. So, do what you guys want.
Well what springs did you put on(revised or non-revised)? How many miles did you have on your shocks when they were installed?
I'll be upfront with ya. I don't trust what a "dealer tech" says much futher than I could actually throw him.

I have an 03.5 6mt sedan... I have been lowerd on unrevised z springs for just over a year. At first I stayed with the stock sport shocks and the rear was HORRIBLE. Unsefe to drive even. So I installed some unrevised shocks from a z on the rear only. The car drives and handles great. Its a bit stiff but not too bad. The stock G shocks are still riding great in the front with the lowerd spring now for close to 20K miles. Hope that helps....

You are right, the shocks will blow, guaranteed, no ifs ands or buts about it... every shock/strut whether it be stock or aftermarket will eventually blow.
Most dealer techs dont know wtf they're talking about in the first place, they just give you the run around to try and make you spend more money then you should have to.

Clearly you have no experience with suspensions. I'd trust the experience of those us that actually do the work on thier cars compared to what some "dealer tech" is telling you. Do you not realize dealerships are there to make money....especialy from the ignorance of it's customers.
Glad I don't even have to quote him... but I love how he "guarantees" us that it will blow no matter what haha. 350z springs/shocks is the most common suspension change for the sedan owners. As long as you do it right, everything will be fine.
I have been following this thread and appreciate all of the replies that refute the thread starter's comments. I also used the 350z unrevised springs with sport susp. shocks and have had no issues (only on for 10k miles so far).
I went with this set-up only after lots of careful research on this forum and am glad to hear it should be okay for quite a while longer.

It depends on the strut and how it goes out. A strut can blow out and it will not work as well as before but you can still drive on it, others will blow and you will have all kinds of problems. I have ~20k on my H&R / oem sport strut combo with no problems. I am changing to D-spec's next week but that was by choice and for performance gains.

Then, I checked with cerritos infiniti, and they told me it is a guarantee blow if you lower on factory shocks. Yes, it even applies to the sport red factory tokico shocks. You may not notice it first, but it will blow eventually. Blown shocks dosen't necessarely need to leak fluids either. So ure gonna have to buy new set of shocks down the line anyway. Mine as well buy tokico d-spec shocks and use them and sell them down the line. They cost the same as factory shocks.
Not really. Can you explain this reasoning in detail? The Z / coupe springs only lower a max of 1" and have the same spring rates as the G sport. If that is the case why would these springs wear out the sport shocks any significant amount faster than normal?
