Could it be possible to have a 2005+ Z shock blow with linear Hotchkiss lowering springs after 40K miles?

I'm a fan of bumping old threads when the question is relevant to the topics covered within the thread. People can browse through the thread and find their suspension questions answered instead of reading unrelated topics.

I've actually never read that random question thread. Hahaha

It's definitely possible. I know this is an old thread but I'm surprised no one said it's better to just go with coils from the get go if you are replacing both shocks and springs. Makes so much more sense for a lot of reasons.

Thanks for the info...I've had really bad luck with coilovers in the past and was wondering if there are any quality G35 coilovers that do not blow a shock every year??

I'm sure the busted inner and outer tie rod along with the worn wheel bearing didn't help my passenger front shock. I'm still not sure if it's blown and would hate to buy more shocks if it isn't. I'm feeling a clunk and vibration through the gas pedal.

I've had my Tanabe Pro5s for over a year and they have about 20K miles on them and they still feel perfect. I'm going to assume the better quality coilovers will last longer then say MDUs but I don't have any facts to back up that assumption.

I'm very happy with mine and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

I got a little confused when I read this, if i have an 06 sedan, and wanted to drop my car on Z springs, do I want revised or unrevised. And I saw somewhere that certain year Z springs aren't good? which ones should I use. Anyone thanks for the help

revised is what ya want...most 04 and up models will have these as they changed the suspension after the 03 models...all the information is available in the suspension section of this forum to distinguish between the two

You're forgetting in 2006 most of the entry level suspension companies hadn't released a coilover for the G35 or 350z and the ones that had were still upwards of $1100.

I had the 2006 350Z springs and struts on my 03 sedan. I put less than 20k mi. on them. I didn't know the rears leaked until I switched to coilovers.
