Engine Buzz

Has anyone else had a engine buzzing sound occasionally? Its on top of the normal engine rumble. Is this because the engine isnt warm enough? It also feels as if the engine is struggling a bit and not performing as usual when the buzzing occurs.

Re: Engine Buzz

I've had the same thing on all my cars so I know it is normal, but I don't know exactly what it is. But yes, it's always when the engine is cold and it goes away after a minute or two.

Re: Engine Buzz

Do you hear it when you just started the car? If it does then it is the diagnostics system checking the car. This is true in newer cars not just Infiniti. My TL does this too as soon as you put it in gear and start to move you will here a buzzing sound. However, with what you are describing you might want to get your car checked any buzzing that makes your car struggle is a cause for concern.

Re: Engine Buzz

I've had the noise since I bought my car. It only appears when I start the car in the morning and the engine is real cold. But I've started to let the engine sit and warm up for 3 minutes every morning and now it strangely happens.

Re: Engine Buzz

If we're talknig about the same sound, mine is not a "bad" sound, it just sounds like the engine is making a "whirring" or fan like sound a little louder than usual. I think it's just the engine warming up.

Re: Engine Buzz

is any of this engine buzzing going on when your a/c is on? i took my sedan in for that and they said it was a TSB for the '03 sedan. no more buzzing noise after they took care of it.

g35girl -

Was that the TSB for the humming or droning AC compressor noise? They ordered the kit for me and the service appt coordinator called to tell me it was in and said it would take 3 or 4 hours to install. When I brought it in the service manager told me 5 hours. It wound up taking 9 hours including lunch because the technician, although experienced, had not done it before.

(I could have taken a loaner, but the dealer is 75 miles from my office and I had nowhere nearby to go and the dealer's lounge beats a library for working and reading.)

robertr... here is the TSB. yeah, they installed an a/c kit. i'm not sure how long it took them because they kept my car an extra day (also had temp sensor work done). but whoa, i know it didn't take 9 hours.
