I tried searching but havent really found anything that helps. Ive heard so many mixed opinions about flushing the tranny fluid as opposed to just draining and refilling it. I know that you dont get out all of the tranny fluid with a drain and refill. Recently ive heard that tranny flushes can harm the tranny. I figured that if you have 100k and never changed it you would wanna stay away from flushing it. I have 30k on my 05x and i set up an appointment to have it flushed. Does anyone have any personal experiences with a flush damaging a tranny? Thank you

 

I would just drain and refill more often. You will not get it al but you also don't take any risk. It just costs a little more in fluid.

 

Just follow your service manual's instructions. Some fluids are not recommended to be flushed. I know it sounds strange but that is becoming more common these days on new cars.

The answer is "it depends". If you inspect the fluid and it's dark and burnt looking, it's probably better to do a complete flush. If it still looks red and clean, a drain/refill is sufficent.

I had the dealer do mine. They inspected it and determined a drain/fill was good enough.
