no noise on my '03, but i have it on my '05 with 30k miles, started around 20k miles.....dealer says normal, and didn't want to replace it. i didn't push the issue. hitting it with some lube now and then removes the noise, for a while.......

05x with 21,XXX. I had my compression rods replaced at my last oil change because of the creaking coming from front going over speed-bumps and under light accelerating coming out from an intersection. The creak was amplified with cold weather. Haven't heard the noise since.

Replaced under waranty.

i think/hope this is true, but the tech who fixed my car told me my bushings were torn i think there may actually be negative consequences beyond noise if bushings are torn

05 with 24K miles. Started hearing the noise at around 15K miles. Gets worse with cold weather as there is noise when I go on dips and bumps. Pretty embarrasing

I have a 03 and the warranty expires on 3/12. I have been having the problem for over 3 years now, fortunately it has not got worse, I call the Infiniti of Raleigh to have the compression rods replaced and I got a lecture that this is a characteristic noise of the vehicle and there is nothing they can do about it. They said Infiniti knows about (of course when I talk to them they tell me they are not aware of any creaking noise problem). I am pretty frustrated about it, I like the car otherwise, has only 35K miles and don’t want to replace it. Has anybody run on a dealership that refuses to change the rods? Those of you that you have changed them, was it worth the effort since it seems it comes back next winter? Is it worth for me to experiment on my own to try to lubricate the bushings?

Try another dealer - you should have nothing but replaced and properly working parts on your vehicle. This is a common problem

Mine makes a clicking noise but maybe that's the rear axles.

But it also makes the sound when I get out of the car and the car lifts.

See the end of this thread in the Suspension forum. Infiniti has just issued a TSB for the compression rod bushings. They now sell the bushings themselves as the LRU, vs. having to replace the entire rod.

^Now they do it...after I went and replaced both rods

When replacing them, I was like "why can't they sell just the bushings!"

Good stuff...thanks for sharing

Do you need an alignment after replacing the compression rod? Does warranty cover for the alignment?

The TSB does not mention alignment being required. When I had my rods replaced (twice), no alignment was done or needed. The car drove perfectly straight. Theoretically, there are no dimensional play adjustments made when the rods (or bushings) are replaced.
