I Just damaged my car

I recently moved into a new apartment a few months ago and one of my neighbors in a house down the block was nice enough to allow me use of her garage. I offered to pay her to rent it, but she refused. Anyway, this morning I was moving the car out of the garage when the door closed on my car. The damage isnt as bad as it could be, but there is a large deep 12 inch gash on the sunroof. I realize this isnt horrible, but I am pissed and needed to vent. Short of replacing the glass in the roof, any ideas on how to minimize the scratch?

how did that happen? that sucks. it shouln't be too expensive just to replace it. depending how deep the scratch is, you may be able to get it polished.

Post pics please, people we'll be able to give you better advice based on what they see.

Tell your neighbor about the door problem, you don't want it to happen again.

Check if your insurance has comprehensive glass coverage, if it does you can probably get that sunroof replaced on a $75 or $100 glass deductible.

Don't want to say "No good deed goes unpunished" , but.....
her homeowners should cover you under property damage rider.
Be nice, approach gently, and see if a claim can be filed.
Replace the sunroof - dont screw around w/ buffing etc. You may
accidentally cause more damage to finish, etc.

Consider whatever you get stuck paying to fix it as rent for the garage space.

Be nice and use the money you would have paid her for rent to buy her a new garage door opener

Man, as I was reading your thread, I was glad that it didn't lead into you asking your neighbor for cash. That was cool of you.

I second the opinion of glass polishing. It is common these days to have glass refinished, usually the result of vandals who etch something stupid on there.

If that garage door hit you upside yo' nappy head, knocked you out and you had to be rushed to the hospital wonder how understanding you would be. In this case the garage door damaging the sunroof of a G is much worse, so dont hold back , sue !!!!!

She was doing him a favor by letting him use the garage for free. Now you want to turn around and sue her? It's litigation happy people like you that are contributing to the decline of our country, congrats.

I feel like suing you for "intentional lack of humor" - a serious personal afront to normal people.
