Missing jack in new car - what to do?

Well my car is just 3 months old (i paid it in full) and today my buddys ford expedition got into an accident where someone clipped his front bumper and right tire. He had problems getting his jack to work so until his dad came we decided to try out my jack.

So i popped my trunk and found the toolkit (comes in a black pouch) beside the spare tire. But I couldn't find the jack. According to the owners manual, it should be beside the tire as well.

So i guess either the car never came with one or someone knicked it during a service job (two services so far - 1k and 5k).

I guess im partly to blame for never checking to see the jack was ever there but can I get the dealer to get me a replacement?

If they kick up a fuss, can I just get any jack from an auto store Of course, I will fork out an extra bit to get a quality jack. Or should I just get the Infiniti jack from the dealer?

Thanks all.

The jack is located in a separate compartment on the left (driver) side of the trunk by the wheel well.

thanks for the input.

Well to access the spare tire, i had to lift up the carpet cover and then the stiff cardboard. Beside the spare tire well - it was surrounded by stiff black foam board. I took all of these off and there was nothing - just the metal of the car.

Now where is this compartment located - does it have a screw i had to remove to access it?

Ummmm....did you read your owners manual

Driver's side of trunk, there is a panel with a plastic locking clip. Release clip and remove panel. The jack is tucked behind this panel. It is NO WHERE near the spare.

Also, there is no way in hell your G35 jack will work on lifting an Expedition. I've changed a tire on an Expedition. The jack with that vehicle is far larger than the G35's.

Ditto that. That jack is a POS and I wouldn't even want to try it on a car that big. Get yourself a cheap floor jack at Sears for $30 when it's on sale and leave it in your trunk.

^^+1 on the craftsman floor jack. It makes things soooooo much easier and safer. You'll never regret getting one if you work on your car often.

If your sedan is like mine, the your tools are integrated into the foam below the carpet above the tire. I think the tool kit comes with the G's that have a full spare.
