Good question

When buying revised/unrevised 350Z springs or even coupe springs from someone how can you tell if you are getting a pair of front or rear springs? Naturally I would be concerned that someone is selling any spring set up two fronts instead of two rears, civic springs etc... Just to make $$$$. How can you tell that you are getting what you requested?

Arn't the front springs coil-overs while the rears arn't? The rear springs should be larger.

It is fairly easy to tell the difference between fronts are rears. As stated above, diameters are different and the top of the front springs are wrapped in an extra layer of gray rubber where it sits against the shock. Rear springs do not have this. In addition, there are the painted dots that identify the different types of Nissan springs.

If I remember correctly, rear coupe springs (non-sport) have 3 red dots on them. I can't guarantee this is correct as I am just going off memory from when I installed mine.

If you run a search I believe you can find out for sure.

Why would you want coupe springs? From what I understand they don't lower the car. You need 350Z springs.

I bought G sedan Eibach's off of EBAY about 2 years ago. I had them sitting in the box for like 7 months before I got around to installing them. Only to find out they were Altima springs MOTHER PHUCKERS. I emailed but got no refund. Lame, never gonna make that mistake again. And I am no ebay n00b I have like 200+ positive feedback, I just made the damn mistake of not opening the box immediately and inspecting. One of these days I should jump on the nearest Altima forum and get rid of them. I ended up getting 2005 350z suspension with low miles anyway for a decent price, so it wasn't the end of the world.

P.S. I got my 350z suspension locally. I just went to the Nissan dealer and asked if they had any customers that upgraded their suspension. The shop new the guy right off the bat because he had them do all his upgrades and he had supped up his Z upon delivery. Worked out great.

Coupe springs in the rear and 350z spring in the front. The rear spring rate on the Z isn't the same as our sedan and I don't want to be low in the rear. I have a lot of friends and family come out to vacation at my house for free so I have to keep the drop in the rear at a minimum.

Well here in Hawaii I see more souped up coupes than 350Z mostly older guys drive the 350z I have yet to get a response locally for 350Z springs. I might try the dealerships but I'm in no rush it's Christmas I have to spend on others!

Coupe rear springs will lower the sedan rear 1/2". It's not a dramatic drop, but it is noticeable and with a 1" Z drop in the front, it balances the look out (since the rear cut out is a lot less than the front). Going 1" all around makes the rear look like its sagging (although it's not) because the fender gap is less than the front.

I just wanted to jot down what I have discovered from searching on this topic for the next guy that searches and finds this tread...

For a Sedan with Sport Suspension who wants a 1 inch drop and doesn't want to sacrifice comfort for a slammed look and keep parts to a minimum. The ideal setup would be....

Unrevised (03-04) 350Z springs in the front. The Unrevised springs will have 2 red dots and 1 white dot, smaller in diameter than the rear springs and will be wrapped in extra layer of gray rubber at the top of the spring. Has the same spring rate as a G35sprt package sedan. Gives 1-1.5inch drop in front ride height.

Unrevised (03-04) G35 Coupe with factory 18" wheels has 3 red dots on the rear springs Larger in Diameter than the front springs and have same spring rate as G35 with sprt package (342) gives 0.5-0.8in drop in rear ride height.

04.5-07 350Z and 05-07 G35Coupes (Revised) have the revised spring rates which are different from G35sedans so you would need to get aftermarket shocks.

A none sport G35sedan Base/Premium can get either spring combo since they will need to replace their shocks

FYI if you want to determine if the springs someone is selling are Revised or Unrevised....

Revised 350Z and G35 Coupe springs have 2 Red dots and and 1 light purple dot these are the dot colors for the rear.

I am hoping I will have a better experience with the 350z/G35 coupe setup over the Eibach Prokits. I'll keep you posted.
