Replacing Brake Pads

Does $400 sound about right to replace my pads for an 03 non Brembo set? My rotors are not being replaced.

Sounds like highway robbery to me.

Is Suburban Infiniti doing the job for you? OEM pads?

I was thinking of taking it to Suburban Infiniti, but I thought let me get some quotes from other places first. Belle Tire told me $400. Don't you think the dealer would be more expensive then them?

Sound about right if it includes new rotors. If no rotors, it is robbery!

$400 for just pads?? How much do pads cost? Is it even front and rears? Let's say it's $175 for front and rear. So labor is $225? For what? 1 hour of work? Insane.

The question if you need/don't need rotors is how close they are to the min thickness. Or if the rotors have deep grooves or are warped. There is absolutely no way to tell this over the net and you haven't offered any info pointing either way.

I just bought some pads and did my own. At 30k, the fronts were toast but the rotors were okay. Rears were fine.

That price is rape....you're better off getting some aftermarket pads, since you have an '03...it will cure your brake dust issues immediately! I got Hawk HPS front & rear pads for $125 & did the install myself (using DREWER's DIY thread). Never changed brakes before in my life!!!!

Suburban Infiniti quoted me about $290 per axle to replace the pads and turn the rotors. They said to add an additional $140 per rotor if the rotors need to be replaced.

Pad replacement.............

I just paid $125 for a complete set of Hawk HP pads for my '04 Non-Brembo
coupe.............$400 seems excessive........don't drop the soap!! Install
can be accomplished in 30 to 40 minutes and I
don't have airtools. Order your own pads and find someone to install them
if you don't have the time..........$400 yea right!!

Thanks for the info! I think I am going to buy my own ceramic pads and have someone help me install them. Especially if I can save $200-$300. I guess I have to call Suburban and cancel my inspection.

If you live in Michigan and drive your car in the winter, you may want to reconsider. I didn't go ceramic, as after doing research on the advantages & disadvantages, ceramics only operate & function to their full potential in warmer climates & when they're heated up (like track use)...not truly sure how well they'd work for you, so you may want to ask around. Just a suggestion before you fork out the dough for them.
