I'm looking to buy new tires for my g35 sedan. My current tires are 215/55/17. I'll be buying new tires in the next 1-2 months and I'm trying to find out what tires would be good ones to get. I'm living in the Houston, TX area so I don't ever receive any harsh winter weather. Does anyone have any tire brand recommendations? I'd like to keep this under $500. Thanks!

Pick up last month's (Nov 06) Consumer Reports for a test on performance all-seasons and winter tires, although you won't be needing the info on the winter tires.
EDIT: The frustrating part is that the 215/55-17 size is such a wacky size that selection is somewhat limited.

I just put those on my car. I had a set of 17 inch rims from my 2000 Maxima SE (my g came with 18 inch), so I put that size tire (215/15/17) on my car. I purchased Dunlop M3 Winter tires. So far I have barely noticed a difference from the 19 inch wheels.

I use Yokohamy YK520 in SoCal: size 225/55VR17 on stock rims. Tires.com (America's Tire) have them in 215/55VR17 as well. They work very well in dry, wet and (according to reviews on tires.com) snow. 60K mile warranty and pretty queit too. If you skip road hazard warranty you might be able to get 4 of them for less than $500.
