2007 automatic transmission issue
I have just purchased a 2007 G-35 sedan with the automatic (5 speed) transmission. The issue I am having is this - The tranny will kickdown to a lower gear at the smallest press on the gas pedal. Usually the kickdown is anywhere from 1 - 2 inches from the floor on most cars. On this car is about 1 inch from the top. This results in a very annoying ride (being so touchy). The tranny does not seem to be "happy" with small adjustments of the throttle ... almost instantly searching for a "better" gear.
What I am trying to find out is this. Is this an intentional design feature or a flaw? I know that Infinity tried to create a "feeling of unlimited power" in the 2007 transmission shift points, but this seems rediculous. The feeling is "all or nothing when you accelerate. Even when I want to make a small adjustment of 3-5 mph a small press on the gas causes a downshift, a small jerk in acceleration and then an upshift as I back off the gas.
Anybody having the same issue?

Go back and take another G for a drive at the lot to see if yours reacts differently. Keep in mind the new G has a G-force sensor so the transmission will react more aggressively if you happen to be driving aggressively. Lastly, make sure you are not in Sport Mode which is another way to make the transmission be more aggressive and less likely to stay in one gear.

I don't have an 07, but what you describe doesn't seem right to me. You shouldn't get a kickdown with such a small throttle input. The only time my 05 is sensitive is when I'm in 5th going uphill and I give her a nudge - she drops to fourth very easily, but not so much as to be annoying or inappropriate.
