Engine Compartment Cleaning

Can any one advise if cleaning the engine is safe to "do it yourself", or better left to the "pros"?

I've only wiped down the engine covers and what not on the G. You should be fine to spray it down. Just make sure the engine isn't hot or you could end up with a cracked block. I've sprayed down the engine compartment on my Explorer a couple times without any issues. I can't imagine there would be any issues with doing this on the G.

if you go with the spray.. make sure theres no leaks anywhere under the hood...

i personally like to use rags and clean em.. once with just water, 2nd witha lil soap, 3rd wth just water and one more time with a dry rag

The thing to worry about is the wiring/computers. Hopefully, they separate from the main engine block.

From what I've heard, the cracked engine block is probably not a big worry. The engine can get plenty of of water on it while driving in the rain, or going through puddles. I don't hear of too many cracked blocks from that.

Mine has never been dirty enough to require anything more than a little spray and a microfiber.
