Couple differences b/n '03 and '06

Hey all,

I just picked up a loaner from the dealership while my '03 is in for service. I just had a question to make sure my '03 is normal because there are some deviations to the loaner I have.

1. The seat (driver's) sits much lower.

2. When shifting to manual mode (from Drive), my '03 moves directly to 4th. This is regardless of me cruising the highway at 70mph or if I am stopped at an intersection, it goes straight to 4. The loaner, however, starts in the gear that it is in - 1st from a stop, etc.

Anyone else noticed this?

1) You do realize you can move the seat up and down?
I had a loaner and tried my friends 06 and they were at same height (if set at same settings)

2) Yea, the newer G's have better manumatic mode. It also responses much quicker, unlike the laggy 03/04 tranny's.

Up and down, up and down - yeah, six way adjustable or something like that . Yes, I realize the height is adjustable, but the loaner goes lower than my '03. Maybe I should have it checked out.

Edit: You know, my '03 makes me feel like I'm in a minivan sometimes because I'm so high up - the loaner feels lower and sportier, does that make sense?

I dunno, I can lower my seat so much that I barely see over the steering wheel.

Cool, you have an '03? I will ask them to check it out. Maybe I should ask how tall you are first...

Theoretically, the dash displays "4", but you'll be in the gear the car finds most appropriate, and the car shifts itself to 4th, but not past it until you redline it and it auto shifts to 5th.

Oh well, they are done with my car, so no more fun with the loaner.

Up through 04, the MM mode was more of a D1, D2, .. D5 mode, where you limit the maximum gear it will go in.
