Installed my Hawk brake pads the other day.

Both my right wheels are making a loud "clicking" sound when leaving and coming to a stop. (around 5mph)

I reinstalled them...applying more greese and compressing the piston a bit more. did not seem to help at all.

When I installed the pads, I put greese on the back...and greese on the back of the shim...the shims seemed a little loose.

anyways...what could this be? brakes feel ok

Did you properly embed them per the instructions? How do you know it's both right wheels?

Make sure that you didn't over torque your lugs. I had that problem on a prior car.

90ft lbs on the lugs...

i had a friend inspect the sound while I drove by and than while he sat in the car as a passenger.

you think I may have overtorqued the bolt on the caliper?

do you have the right pad on the inside and the right one on the outside? there is a tap one of the pads and if you put it on the outside it may touch the rim spokes!! I did my moms brakes on her Frontier and that happened on one side!!

hmmm...there is a wear tab, but I believe they will only fit on the outside

i will take off the shims tom...maybe thats it

i will also put less torque on the caliper bolts

Hope you discover what the clicking is. You could always post pictures so
we could see where the problem lies. And, you didn't answer if you used
the Hawk breakin process or not.......it's important to do so if you don't
want major squeeks. Almost as bad as having clicking noises..squeeeeek!!

it is the old brakes from the Frontier! That lil tab should be on the inside!

it take me about 750 miles to brake in my new brakes!

nope

I removed the shims...but still no good.



the outer pads wear tab clip into the rotor...but the inner pads do not have anything to clip into the inner pads are making the noise
