Besides when the roads are not plowed, even AWD vehicles are not out in the streets.
No prob. My G is my first RWD car as well. I just takes a little getting used to, but not much. The VDC is pretty good at getting you started without slipping too much. Not so much at higher RPM's on a 6mt tho. Main this is the make sure you get some good tires. There's a good chance you'll have the stock Turanza's which arent great. My Avon's are great as well as Michelin Pilot Sport. Both very sporty and grippy tires in most conditions. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your contributions. All of the comments are helpful and I will be checking out the 2004 AWD Brilliant Silver later on today. I will let everyone know about the condition and the carfax if I can get all that done today.

Thanks again.

thanks oleg.

the G is my first rwd car too but if you put snow tires on and you're an experienced driver you shouldn't have a problem. and with the weather we're having right now who cares-- just have an extra metrocard for the blizzards b/c no one will be driving around when it's that bad out

Update: I test drove the 2004 G35X today. Great Response, balance and felt smaller than it actually is. Minor dimples in left rear quarter and left rear door, minor scratches on the lower part of front bumper, other than that the exterior and interior are mint. Didn't get a chance to ask for Carfax, but from lot identification numbers, the Sales Associate said it was a trade in. Internet price @ $25,995, I offered $22k out the door, they countered with $24,500 plus tax, I walked away. Car is nice, 11,xxx miles, Brilliant Silver on Willow, Nismo Aero Kit, but a little too steep for my pocket. KBB trade in says $22,600 in excellent condition, $21,385 in Good Condition for that year model, etc.

Hey Kenny, I may come check you out this weekend. I will contact you before I do.

Thanks again everyone.

Thanks Kenny. I know you are not talking about the price for the 03 RWD with 35,xxx miles right? I already did my research, significantly less than
$22K at your dealership. I will definitely give you the business when I am ready Kenny, after all you are Da Mayor. LOL.

I think you should get the g35x b/c it's the top of the line model. It comes w/ all the goodies...just my opinion...and also when your crossing one of the bridges heading into Manhattan or Jersey during a rainy day, the snow mode buttons really make's a difference...but both decision is safe...

That statement doesn't make sense. How is the G35x the top of the line? Everytime I get a loaner it never has all the features mine has: Prem Pkg, Sunroof, one touch rear wdo's, reclining seats, bose, etc. The only difference is the AWD, the rest is up to packaging and options. Snow mode only works at low speeds and not necessary for rain. It is pretty useful for regulating throttle in the snow, but you can also teach your right foot that trick with practice.

Thanks for the Clarification Nismo, Kenny knows what I meant. I will be in LI this Saturday, so I might take a ride out to Kenny's dealership. The more I think about it, the better value seems to be RWD. Ah, decisions, decisions! Thanks again everyone, you all make valid points.

honestely, go for RWD.

the AWD is a very complicated system w/ complicated MPG, complicated chassis and a complicated computer. You will be much more happier with the RWD.

I LOVE my G when it snows...but its only one day in the year. like kenny said, that extra metro card will be the best bet.

if you live in canada - in the middle of nowhere, than I could easily see why the X is necessary

i would check out edmunds.com i think they have used car prices that are closer to reality. i just sold my coupe for $18500. kbb was saying i could sell for 16.

anyhow, back in 03 when the g was fairly new, i was leaving work going down the jersey turnpike south. there was already about an inch of snow on the ground. all of a sudden the traffic was stopped and as we inched up, i saw a rwd g sedan under an 18 wheeler. it was horrific. i cant imaine the person survived that accident. it had just happened too. no police or medics on scene. in ny and jersey area, you cant put chains on yor tires, so i personally think its best to do whatever you can to make the ride safer. not only will you be dealing with snow and ice, but also bad drivers, pot holes, traffic, and pedestrians. i think the awd is worth the extra gas and all. and if you are realy worried about gas mileage why are you looking into geting a g, go for a hybrid. they are made for city driving.

I never said I was worried about the gas mileage, may have been posted by someone else, not me. Thank you. But I will take your observations and advice into consideration, all very relevant points. Thanks again.

but how do you know that accident was caused just because of the g's handling? there are tons of variables that could have caused that accident. I mean even if ur driving a front wheel drive car and an 18 wheeler hauls brakes on ur *** and you have nowhere to go, imagine whats gonna happen.

i dont think its fair to say the accident was a result of the g being rwd though.
