nope you just met your rev limiter. These cars don't shift very well at full throttle in manual mode. experiment, find the optimum time to shif to the next gear (probably be about 500 rpm before redline.)

I did something like that on the way home too...I had it in manumatic mode, 2nd gear, and flooring it around a corner..I saw a light flash up on the instrument panel between the speedo and the tach, but only for a second - not long enough to read the light. Maybe I held it too long in 2nd and was about to hit the limiter?

If you floored it coming out of a corner in a low gear, I'd venture to guess that the little yellow light that flashed said "SLIP."

Like others have said your not going to hurt it to bounce off the revlimiter. My only gripe is the way is cuts the fuel and makes the rpm jump around, it seems like your doing more damage to the engine by bouncing off the rev limiter than it would to maintain a consistent 7000 rpm. since the throttle is fly by wire, why couldn't they make it that when the rpm goes to 7000 it should just stay there no matter how much more gas you give it.

One thing to remember is that while the motor can easily reach 7000 rpm, you accesories like the power steering pump, A/C pump and water pumps don't like to spin that fast for very long.
