So with the $223.58 + $204.15 + $80 (gaskets), the stealership parts quote seems reasonable.
The 90K mile work to be done also includes $175 for a tranny drain and refill, all belts replaced and oil change. Total walk out price will be around $1300.
Damn Nissans
But how much work have you had to pay out of pocket over the life of this car? You have to expect to pay something over the life of the car especially with one getting up there in miles like yours. Things wear out, things fail, and no car is perfect.

It's odd:

Look at his mod list. He has no problem bucking up the money for mods:
03 TB 5AT Sedan: Stillen stuff: sway bars, HiFlow Airbox. ZTube. 3/8" MD Iso Thermal Plenum Spacer. Coupe Mid-pipe+HKS sport muffler. 12 wire GG kit. GTSPEC stuff: Front & rear lower tie braces. 235/50 ZR17 MIchelin Pilot Sport/AS 17X8 +43 18lb 5Zigens wheels with 6-pot Wilwood front BBK, SS lines
That's probably $4,000 worth of parts and labor right there.

Are you actually considering letting the stealership do the work??? Buy the valve covers from Riverside Infiniti for much cheaper and then get an independent shop to do the work for hundreds less. What is the problem?

The work is being done right now. I'm just complaining as we have the 2000 Maxima with 105,000 miles and the 2003 G35 with 90,000 miles. Both have the VQ engine, different generations. Both have been requiring massive influxes of cash to keep them operating. But keeping them is cheeper than buying new cars. With the maintenance being done on them, they should be on the road for a few more years.

Would an extended warranty have covered you?

I'm sure it would have. I, of course, elected not to get one. So I went by the Stealership and checked out my car. The tech had already installed the two covers. He said he had to really push on them to get them on the spark plug tubes. The old sparks were on the work bench. They were coated in oil on both ends. The gap was huge! I'm sure the new plugs will deliver more HP now.

Hey what did they do with your Motordyne spacer? Did you take that out prior to bringing it to the shop? Or is the dealership going to put it back in for you. Just wondering how they deal with aftermarket parts when they do this kind of thing.

Since I am no longer under warranty, they can't say anything about it. As a matter of fact, I discussed the spacer with the tech, along with the grounding kit.
The tech knew what both were all about and had no problems.

Oh I meant, is he going to reinstall the spacer and every at no extra charge?

And is he going to install it back to spec? I was just wondering if the torque specs for the bolts, when used w/ the Motordyne spacer, were any different then the stock ones.

Its not a big deal, I was just wondering how they were going to handle the re-installation of aftermarket parts.

No extra charge for the aftermarket parts: GG 10 wire grounding kit, Stillen HiFlow Airbox, Motordyne plenum spacer. The tech seems pretty cool.

You need to find a good honest local mechanic and stop taking your car to the dealership. They overcharge for everything.
