Yeah, this is really a heads up for those of us with high mileage. At least my coil packs have not yet failed like they did on the wife's maxima. When the Maxima's coils failed, the car ran like ****... with the new coils, it runs like new! Funny how the Maxima, with 105,000 miles, does not have the valve cover problem. yeah, really funny

I agree Cato, it's a ridiculas design. Surely a mistake given the older Nissan V6s have the spark plug gaskets.

Here is a pic from the VE30DE that was in my old maxima. You can plainly see the gaskets for the plugs:

Wow! That pic really show what the problem is. Funny how Infiniti says you have to replace to entire cover to get those spark plug tube gaskets. They look like they should be replaceable. I wonder if they used to be? I took a look at the old covers when the tech had them on the bench, there was no evidence of the gaskest ever being there. Apparently they completely disintegrated!

That pic isn't from a VQ35. It's from a old VE30DE. DOHC maxima engine.

I made my comment because Cato's a good guy, from what I can tell from this forum, and here you come along and imply that he's complaining how much the repair is, but yet can throw away money on mods. (implying that he should stop bi$ching since he's got money to spend)

If I was in Cato's shoes, I'd bi#ch too (and yes, I've spend several grand in mods myself ). Maybe I misunderstood...if I did, I apologize...if I didn't, oh well.
