Slower than stock?

I have seen these treads in the past, but here we go again...So I took my car in and drove a loaner (Mine is an '05 G35X, 15k miles (mods below)..loaner was a '06 G35x 5k miles) ruffly the same ride...

I feel like off the line, my car has a sharper response, but above 5k I really felt a nice secondary pull in the loaner, that my car seemed to really lack (mine just sounds louder and sort of revs out) Not sure if with the CAI and the plenum I have confused the ECU (which has been reset with the pedal method after the mods) or if I need exhaust to counter balance the air increase I have given the motor.

Sort of frustrating.

You have to remember that the loners get driven really hard. Their ECU's are probably set in agressive mode, whereas your may be in granny mode. I always notice the loners seem to get up and go like a bat out of hell.

I often drive mine like it is stolen. But, I do appreciate the feedback.

Does your CAI have longer piping than stock? I have heard people with true CAIs that have longer piping complaining of top end power issues while those with short ram complaining about low end response on just about any car.

the cai will make it take longer for the air to get to the engine, and they don't have any performance edge over the stock setup with a drop in filter...

I would bet its just your imagination. The quiet stock setup is playing mind games with you.
