Almost got in an accident this morning. Damn Brakes

So I was driving to work and I almost got in a accident this morning. The was an accident on the side of the road involving a mustang and another car and people were braking suddenly to look at the crash. As soon as I looked up the car in front of me braked real hard. So I slammed on my brakes. I came about a little less than a foot before hitting him. I noticed that when I slammed on the brakes my g35 felt like it was skipping on the payment. I changed my brakes out about 10,000 miles earlier with project mu brake pads. Is this suppose to happen or is it time to change my brakes, rotors, or tires again? My tires seem like it has a lot of thread on them.

HELLO?!?!??! Why are you blaming the brakes? How fast where you going? And, how close were you from the car in front of you? The bottom line is that you were able to stop in time to prevent an accident (which would have been your fault).

Yeah I know it would have been my fault. I was going about 10-15 mph and the car in front of me was about a car length away. Ever since I changed out my brake pad I just don't feel as if they were nearly as good as the oem pads. I was just wondering if my car was suppose to skip like that.

its supposed to happen it's the ABS kicking in to prevent wheel lock up. if the wheels locked up you could possibly spin out or slide. With the tires locked up and the car still moving you have no control and momentum will plow you straight ahead. with the ABS it allows you to keep control and steer if necessary.

Agreed. ABS will in fact decrease your stopping distance by allowing you to retain some tire traction. They used to instruct you to pump your brakes manually to acheive a similar effect, but these days it's all done for you. It probably saved you from an accident.

Exactly. Your ABS was working and you say you were within one foot of hitting the person in front of you. If the ABS wasn't working, I guarantee you your G35 would be getting towed to a shop now and you could be injured. Infinitis actually have excellent brakes.

So you are saying that this is perfectly normal. Everytime you brake real hard your car should feel like it's skipping and shaking?

As someone else mentioned, it's most likely the ABS system working to allow you to still steer while hard braking.

So your a lookey lu too..............

If you hadn't looked to see what or who was involved in the accident you
could have noticed everyone was slowing down and prevented the close
call. When there's an accident especially on the freeway I force myself not
to look because I know someone will be slaming on their brakes. Looking at
a Mustang all bent up isn't worth getting yourself in a simular predicament.

if you're braking hard enough to lock up the wheels, then yes it's perfectly normal.

10,000 miles before? You already have over 10,000 miles on your G35? The 2007 G35 has -- if I recall correctly -- very good braking distance. Something like 117ft from 60-0mph. I could be wrong.

No I have a 03 g35 and it has 60,000 miles on it. I changed the brakes about 10,000 earlier.
